Environmental Justice:
On October 9, the NewYork-Presbyterian Dalio Center for Health Justice held its third conference exploring the intersections of health equity and environmental health. The theme, “Environmental Justice: Advancing Health in Our Climate Crisis," spanned an all-day forum featuring presentations on the history of the environmental justice movement and its historic gains, the importance of community-focused real estate development, the prevalence of regional health disparities and their environmental factors, and more.
Hosted by Dr. Julia Iyasere, Senior Vice President for Health Justice and Equity and Executive Director of the NYP Dalio Center for Health Justice, the conference's guest speakers included Dr. Robert Bullard, Distinguished Professor at Texas Southern University and Founding Director of Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice; Dr. Aaron Bernstein, Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Environmental Health and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry; and 68th Secretary of State John Kerry.
