Ji Young Chong, MD, has been named Associate Chief of Neurology and Director of the Stroke Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She arrives from NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she served as the Site Chief of Neurology and the Director of the Stroke Center. Dr. Chong, who is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine, assumes her new role on July 1.

In her new role, Dr. Chong will lead NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit (MSTU). The MSTU is an emergency vehicle equipped to provide immediate, specialized care to patients who may be experiencing a stroke. It is staffed by a highly specialized team of two paramedics, a computed tomography (CT) technologist and a registered nurse. The unit uses advanced telemedicine technology, allowing vascular neurologists from Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University Irving Medical Center to be consulted remotely and at a moment’s notice. Launched in Manhattan in 2016, NewYork-Presbyterian expanded its MSTU fleet to Queens and Brooklyn in 2018, making it the first health system in the country to operate three of these advanced units.
