SERVICES & SPECIALTIES
ServicesPrenatal Imaging
While pregnancy is an exciting time for expecting parents, it is natural for parents to be concerned about their growing fetus's health. Fortunately, we are learning more about pregnancy and the developing fetus, both anatomically and genetically. Today, clinicians can use prenatal imaging to identify maternal and fetal conditions earlier in pregnancy. This advanced knowledge in prenatal imaging can lead to early intervention and improved outcomes.
At NewYork-Presbyterian, our women's imaging specialists harness this latest knowledge and ultrasound technology to expertly evaluate your baby's growth and development. We offer pregnancy evaluations in each trimester, surveillance of multiple pregnancies, and diagnosis and management of congenital structural disabilities. In addition, we provide a complete range of prenatal diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis and chronic villi sampling (CVS) and fetal therapy for select conditions. We can adjust care plans for you and your baby with information from these scans to achieve the best possible outcomes.
At NewYork-Presbyterian, we maintain the highest quality prenatal imaging standards to provide you with information throughout your pregnancy. Depending on the details of your unique pregnancy, your doctor may recommend that you undergo one or more of the following imaging tests:
- First-trimester viability assessment
- Nuchal translucency measurement
- Fetal anatomic survey for routine and high-risk pregnancies
- Fetal growth assessment
- Cervical length assessment
- Biophysical profile and antenatal testing
- Amniotic fluid volume assessment
- 3D ultrasound
- Doppler velocimetry
- Placental evaluation
- Amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
- Fetal echocardiography
- Fetal MRI
- Fetal therapy (such as percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, intrauterine transfusion, fetal shunt placement)
Gynecologic Imaging
Our physicians employ ultrasound to evaluate and diagnose gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, fibroids, pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy, and gynecologic cancer. Diagnostic imaging may provide early detection of cancer and other diseases which may improve outcomes.
Our expert women's imaging specialists offer general gynecology imaging evaluations, including:
- Transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound
- 3D ultrasound
- Sonohysterogram /saline infusion sonography
Prenatal Genetic Testing & Counseling
Prenatal genetic testing gives expecting parents information about whether their fetus has genetic abnormalities including genetic disorders (such as Down syndrome and other aneuploidies, deletions, and duplications) or single-gene disorders (such as sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, and Tay-Sachs disease). Our imaging team offer patients a full range of prenatal genetic screening and testing including chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis to help them along their journey. Genetic counseling can then be conducted by our team of genetic counselors.
