Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Our program immerses participants in a learning environment focused on a career in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and prepares them for the future.
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, is a 591-bed community teaching hospital and a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network. Our Pediatric Emergency Department evaluates approximately 27,000 patients annually, many presenting with high acuity. With a diverse patient population from Brooklyn and around the world, you will treat patients with various levels of health care access in a single shift.
Our program prepares its graduates for a career in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and offers opportunities to pursue all aspects of academic practice. The fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME (Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education).
As a fellow in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, you will care for patients alongside our dedicated group of PEM trained physicians and experience the full spectrum of care, from routine exams to life saving interventions. Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a division of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
The Pediatric Emergency Department is a newly renovated 10-bedded unit, with an additional asthma area. The department has seven full-time faculty members, many formally trained in ultrasound. In addition, there are three full time pediatric nurse practitioners, as well as a dedicated full-time child life specialist.
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist's location in New York City is one of our greatest strengths. We take advantage of being an urban community hospital in Brooklyn, the fourth largest city in America. Our fellows benefit from the city’s abundant educational and cultural opportunities.
