Monthly Support Group
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist hosts a monthly virtual support group on the second Wednesday of each month from 2 pm- 3 pm for people who have experienced a stroke. This group is open to stroke survivors everywhere, attracting participants from around the globe. Family members and caregivers of stroke survivors are also welcome. Through this group, participants can share their feelings and thoughts with others who have gone through similar experiences.
A Commitment to Research
Our stroke specialists participate in national multicenter clinical trials to evaluate new stroke treatments and improve patient outcomes. Examples include the ASPIRE study, which is assessing the best use of blood thinners in people who had a hemorrhagic stroke and also have atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm problem), to reduce the risk of ischemic stroke. In the SATURN study, investigators are evaluating whether or not statins should continue to be used in people who had a hemorrhagic stroke. Studies such as these advance the understanding and treatment of diseases such as stroke not only for our own patients but people around the world.
