Telemedicine initiatives at NewYork-Presbyterian are reducing wait times during emergency hospital visits and enabling neurologists to reach stroke victims across the city more quickly, as described in a new paper.

A new era of community-based healthcare was ushered in with the ribbon-cutting of a state-of-the-art surgical and oncology pavilion at NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital. Top hospital administrators, medical staff, and community and government leaders toured the new 36,000-square-foot space to learn about services offered at NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence.

NewYork-Presbyterian and content agency, Pace, received two awards for HealthMatters.nyp.org, the Hospital’s new digital storytelling platform. Health Matters won “Best Series of Articles” and “Best New Digital Publication - Design” at the Content Marketing Awards, the largest and longest-running international content marketing awards program in the world.

Scientific innovator and physician Dr. Pawel Muranski has joined NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) as director of cellular immunotherapy at the newly established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) cell production lab and assistant director of Transfusion Medicine and Cellular Therapy. He will also serve on the faculty of CUMC as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Pathology and Cell Biology, a principal investigator at Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) and a member of Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center

During excavation near Sixth Street and Eighth Avenue in Park Slope—the site for NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s new Center for Community Health (CCH)—about 30 large boulders were removed from the ground and donated to the Prospect Park Alliance. The Park plans to use these transplanted pieces of quartz granite for its Parks without Borders initiative.

CIO Magazine has named NewYork-Presbyterian a 2017 CIO 100 Award winner. The 30th annual awards program honors and recognizes the cutting-edge innovations of companies that demonstrate excellence and achievement in information technology. The 2017 CIO 100 Awards were presented at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony on August 14 to 16, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
