Lisa Kachnic, MD, one of the nation’s leading radiation oncologists who is pioneering new approaches to optimize the effectiveness of radiation therapy, has been named chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and chief of the radiation oncology service at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Purvi Shah, MD, MSC, has been named Chief Medical Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. In her new role, Dr. Shah will be responsible for medical staff affairs, oversight of clinical departmental activities, hospital clinical program development, clinical program integration with the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise, and oversight of graduate medical education.

To help the public reduce the risk of contracting the flu this season, NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital and the Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe are offering free flu vaccines to adults 19 and older. NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital announced it is hosting the “Be Well Bash,” a wellness and injury prevention event for all ages. This free event will take place Saturday, September 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., rain or shine, on the front lawn of the Bronxville School, located at 177 Pondfield Road.

Fosina, MPH, FACHE, accepted the Westchester Parks Foundation Business Impact Award on behalf of the hospital in recognition of its commitment to the Westchester County Parks system. At an evening gala held at the Westchester County Center on September 20, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital was honored for years of deep commitment to health and wellness and for its unwavering support of the treasured Bicycle Sundays and Sunset Yoga programs.

NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital raised more than $225,000—a record-breaking amount for the hospital—at its annual golf outing, held this year at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale on September 24.
