PGY2 Infectious Diseases
The pharmacy residency in infectious diseases builds on experiences gained in the PGY1 year and is designed to provide a well-rounded experience leading to the development of expert knowledge, skills, and clinical leadership in the practice of infectious diseases pharmacy. This 12-month program offers training opportunities through a variety of clinical rotations and interactions with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Designated as an Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence, the antimicrobial stewardship program provides high quality care through numerous approaches aimed at improving antimicrobial use and patient outcomes including prior approvals, prospective audit and feedback, integration of rapid diagnostics, pharmacodynamic dose optimization, medical provider education, and over 35 antimicrobial use clinical guidelines. We offer a flexible program that focuses on the goals of the resident, but is intended to provide clinical, research, and teaching experience. Graduates of the program should be prepared to pursue employment as an infectious disease/antimicrobial stewardship pharmacotherapy clinical specialist in the acute care setting.
