NYP-WCMC-CUMC-Join-Launch-of-SPARK-Nations-Largest-Autism-Resear

NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons have helped launch the Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge (SPARK), an online research initiative designed to become the largest autism study ever undertaken in the United States. Sponsored by the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI), SPARK will collect information and DNA for genetic analysis from 50,000 people with autism and their families to advance scientific understanding of the causes of the condition and to hasten the discovery of supports and treatments.

Dr. Laura Forese, one of the nation’s leading experts in hospital administration, has been named chairperson of the newly formed National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center Hospital Board. Dr. Forese is the executive vice president and chief operating officer at NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the nation’s top academic medical centers.

The world’s leading performing arts center, Lincoln Center and NewYork-Presbyterian, New York City’s top hospital, announced a new collaboration making NewYork-Presbyterian the Official Hospital of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA). It is the first time LCPA has designated a hospital as a wellness sponsor.

Dr. Sheldon M. Feldman, one of the country’s top breast care surgeons, was named president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) at its annual meeting in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Feldman is the chief of breast surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and the Vivian L. Milstein Associate Professor of Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center.

Lymphoma-Researchers-Earn-Top-10-Clinical-Research-Award

The Lymphoma Clinical Research Group at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian has been awarded a 2016 Top 10 Clinical Research Achievement Award from the Clinical Research Forum for its study demonstrating the efficacy of an innovative combination therapy for treating mantle cell lymphoma.

Dr-Michael-Pitman-Appointed-Chief-of-Division-of-Laryngology

Dr. Michael J. Pitman joins the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, as chief of the Division of Laryngology, effective April 1. He serves as director of the Voice and Swallowing Institute of ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC). He arrives from New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE), where he served as chief of Laryngology across the Mount Sinai Health System.
